Mailchimp integration.

  • Hi,

I’ve followed the information in the support pages, but I still cannot integrate Mailchimp into my WordPress.com website.

The advice is to copy the Mailchimp URL into the sidebar or footer, but there is no information as to how or where to actually do this. When other people have asked the same question, it appears as if the same answer is repeatedly copied and pasted, but it doesn’t help me at all.

I’ve tried adding a link to the sidebar widget, but nothing. The URL comes up in the sidebar but is not active.

I’ve tried putting the URL all over the place, but no result.

Can you please let me know how to do this?

Also, while the Mailchimp site advises that there are ways of adding Mailchimp via plugin or widgets, there also appears to be no way of doing this that I can see.

There are other plugins and widgets (supposedly WordPress.com compatible) that I’d like to have the option of using.

    Thanks,

    Simon

  • I have the exact same problem: I want to integrate MailChimp on my free wordpress blog. How to go about doing this?

  • Hi Mahevash. I’ve looked all over the place, but nothing I’ve tried works… I must be missing something.
There are plenty of posts from people having the same problem, but the solution is not clear to me.
I’m an experienced computer user (since 1979), it’s got me stumped.
Let me know if you work it out please. :-)
I was planning to port my blog over here from Weebly, not so sure now.

  • I have asked a fellow blogger for her help. Will let you know if she can clear things up :-)

Until then, let’s hope someone replies to our shared dilemma here.

  • Thanks Mahevash. Nice blog by the way!
I’ll keep digging, and see what I can see.
Might have to be tomorrow though, I’ve been pretty busy…
You’ll be the first to know if anything else pops up.

  • Hi. She replied! Here’s what she said:

    1. Create the MailChimp image using a googled image and place it in the “text” widget.

    2. Link it to the MailChimp sign up. Hint: she figured out how to do this by Googling how to post her books in the sidebar with links to Amazon. She said it’s basically the same process.

Thanks for the appreciation! I like your niche blog: it’s informative and I personally like drones. Wish I could use one to commute. I hate roads and traffic!

Hah! Nice links…made me laugh :D

  • Hi Mahavesh. I’ve decided to stick with my current site, after all the hullabaloo (or complete lack of it). I’m also trying to get my Mum started on her blog, and cannot recommend this one for the experience I’ve had so far. I’ve wasted hours and hours on this.

But thanks very much for posting that, I think it would work.

I got Mailchimp running on my Weebly site in about two minutes. Weebly has its issues, but it works, and has a modicum of staff support.

Drop by if you like… http://www.aerialimage.com.au

Yes, I like drones. Not really into the ones that fire hellfire missiles, or the ones that spy on or crash into your neighbour. The ones that I am mostly interested in are essentially stable camera platforms that fly, and produce some of the most beautiful images I’ve ever seen.

I’ve started writing news articles, will progress to other things, eventually e-commerce. It’s a niche now, but growing incredibly quickly. I’ll set up a bespoke website at some point.

I’m glad you liked the (badly coded on my part) links.

I kept thinking of The Trial as I went from starting at Part A to read “You need part B first”, then at Part B, “You need Part C”. So when I get to Part C, I get “You can’t do this without Part A”. References to Admin panels that don’t exist in my dashboard etc.

If anybody ever actually reads this, please try and sort it out. I know for a fact that we are not the only ones who have had issues integrating Mailchimp (and probably other plugins too).

The solutions posted do seem like brushoffs, with little actual effort other than copying and pasting answers that may have worked at one time, but don’t seem to now.

Mahavesh’s solution would probably work, I’m not hanging around to find out.

All the best! And good luck in 2016.

  • Oh :( Glad you could set it up easily on Weebly though.

You’re welcome. Checked out your site, it looks good :)

Yes I am not into those either. Cool…not to forget the ones that Amazon uses. I love those!

Well, they were apt! I honestly hope someone resolves this before they lose more users.

All the best and good luck to you too!

  • You cannot use the MailChimp embed code or the Aweber embed code and cannot create a pop-up on a wordpress.COM hosted blog. You can create a sign up page on MailChimp or on Aweber only and link to it.

If you want to use MailChimp with your WordPress.com site here’s the info from MailChimp Support http://kb.mailchimp.com/article/how-to-add-a-mailchimp-signup-form-to-your-wordpress-blog
