making a membership based website
-
Hi,
I see that the yearly cost for hosting a business website is $300 a year.
If I make a website that requires people to pay an annual or monthly fee, does wordpress take any of that money? Or is it just the flat $300/year?
Thanks in advance!

hi,
“If I make a website that requires people to pay an annual or monthly fee, does wordpress take any of that money?”
No, WordPress does not take any of that money.
On a related note,
“The only way to make a membership site on WordPress.com is to install a membership plugin on the Business Plan. We recommend WooCommerce Memberships, as other membership plugins don’t currently work well with WordPress.com.”

Hi there, Another way of creating a membership site without needing a Business plan upgrade is explained in this tutorial: https://en.support.wordpress.com/tutorials/build-a-membership-website-tutorial/
Regardless of upgrade plan, any members of your site will also need to sign up for their own WordPress.com account.

Hi there,
Just an additional note: We don’t take any income you make from selling products or memberships on your site.
But you should also be aware that the cost you pay us for upgrading to Business does not include the cost for buying any premium plugins from WooCommerce or third parties – WooCommerce Memberships is a premium WooCommerce plugin that costs $149 a year on its own, and is a completely separate cost from the Business Plan you buy from WordPress.com.
