We can’t help you without the URL of your blog, starting with http. As well, have you gone through http://learn.wordpress.com? It answers most basic questions.

At wordpress.com, you organize posts by categorizing them and then you can either put the categories widget into the sidebar, or you can create a custom menu and put the categories into the custom menu. When we publish a post it automatically appears on the running page for posts and also on the Categories pages and Archives pages. Note: There must be one published post in each Category in order for there to be anything to display.

You creat categories in your dashboard. You assign sub-categories to parent categories. Category parent – If you want to nest a category within a category, select the parent category. Otherwise leave at None. You display them in the sidebar in a categories widget. There must be one published post in each Category and sub-category in order for there to be anything to display.
