Okay, here's what you can do. Create a new page and put this in the title:
<a href="http://realmerengue.wordpress.com/2008/10/">October Posts</a>
This will create a page with the title 'October Posts' which will link directly to the archive page with all the posts from October in it. For some reason, this only works if the title you give to the page has a space in it, so if you only want one word, be sure to put a space at the end of it. You can then remove the archive widget from your sidebar if you like.
You can do this for every month, though clearly, after a while, this will become very unwieldy.
I notice that yours is quite a new blog, so perhaps you're not aware that once your front page reaches a certain number of posts, these automatically move onto other pages accessible by clicking 'Next Page' and 'Previous Page'. This, together with the archive widget, is the best way of navigating the site. The pages method you wanted and that I've described will only work well for a few months. Imagine having pages for two or three years worth of months!
