Hi, I would like to install a Meta Tag plugin to help optimize my blog. If this is not possible, what other options do I have for inserting Meta Data?
The blog I need help with is fluidityfitness.wordpress.com.
Plugins are not allowed at WordPress.com. Plugins are for self-hosted sites using the software from WordPress.org.
WordPress.com has incredibly good SEO, so there really isn’t anything you need to do other than appropriately categorize and tag your posts and keep the number of categories and tags (categories + tags) assigned to a post between 10 and 12.
There are literally hundreds of threads here in the forum on optimizing your site and increasing traffic and such, and timethief has tons of good advice at http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com.
With meta stuff, the only thing that the search engines will even look at is title and description. They pay no attention to meta tags since they have been so abused. Just recently I saw a site here that literally had more tags than there were words in the post, so it could possibly be that they will stop looking at other types of tags also. In general, their algorithms are so good, that they will pull their own keywords out of the posts and pages to help determine where to put your content in their search results, so using keywords in your posts and pages is important, but also do not overdo this as they can think you are keyword stuffing and downgrade your site ranking.
