Missing comments block
I just started this blog and after one person posted a comment, the comment box is missing from the page an no one else can post comments. Comments is turned on under settings and posts.
The blog I need help with is aflaude.wordpress.com.
On this site http://aflaude.wordpress.com/ I just posted two test comments. One on your post and one on your About page. They are in moderation. Please delete them.
Unless you use the P2 theme which is a Twitter-like theme, know that the front pages of our blogs “showcase content” and comments are collapsed on that page. You cannot change this. The way the comments function is coded into the core of WordPress. By clicking the post title or the comments link the posts on the front page open on their own page where all comments display.
If you think your visitors need a prompt to click a post title or a leave a comment link then use a text widget and place those instructions at the top of your sidebar. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/
Your note about collapsed comments does not deal with the question, but thanks for the information.
I just went to my blog and I can’t post a comment. Clicking on the only comment (approved) allows me to reply to that comment but not to post a new comment. Clicking on the blog title just refreshes the page. Once again, my readers still can not post comments because there is no cue.
I’m having the same issue! No comment area on my posts. I can’t even see my approved comments! I have allow comments settings activated in both default and a post page.
I just posted two more test comments and both are in moderation just like the first two were. I tagged this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond.
P.S. I posted two test comments on http://patjaracz.wordpress.com/ and they are in moderation. Please delete them.
One last time before I give up. If you can post comments, how do you do it. There is no text block or button for readers to post comments. I shift from safari to firefox to be sure that keychain is not identifying me as the blog owner and I can not see any way to post comments. What steps are you using. With over 30 years in computers and as a former Unix sysadmin if I can’t figure out how to post a comment it’s a hidden feature and I’ll have to set up some instructions once we figure out how you are posting comments.
I am working on someone else’s blog. I have access.
the URL is http://www.oaktreeleadership.com/home/general/first-post/
The comment area is displayed on my own pat jaracz blog.
I have the same settings on my pat jaracz blog and the oak tree leadership blog. All settings allow comments. Works on mine but not the other one???
laudens, your comment form is located below the post in the single post view, like http://aflaude.wordpress.com/2013/04/24/brothers-and-sisters-in-christ/
patjaracz, http://www.oaktreeleadership.com/home/general/first-post/ is a self-hosted WordPress.org blog, which we really can’t help with.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Mr Laudens: I just went to your blog site and when I clicked on the title “Brothers and Sisters” post, the leave a reply area was displayed. I left a comment. I use Firefox.
Last post to this form. WordPress does not seem to have any formal help service, just “crowd sourced” help. If anyone can help me please reply to (email redacted). everyone who has tried to help, thanks, but you have danced around the issue and answered every question except the one I am asking.
I work here and would love to help you. As mentioned, your comment form is located below the post in the single post view, like http://aflaude.wordpress.com/2013/04/24/brothers-and-sisters-in-christ/
Is that the comment form you’re having trouble with?
If you can post comments, how do you do it.
If we’re on your homepage, we click the Comments link at the bottom of the post.
From the first comment I posted above:
By clicking the post title or the comments link the posts on the front page open on their own page where all comments display. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/missing-comments-block?replies=17#post-1242878
The logical extension of that is click the comments link to submit a comment.
The topic ‘Missing comments block’ is closed to new replies.
