Can you please fix my sidebar problem? I don’t seem to have one, and I want it to list each of my posts chronologically.
The blog I need help with is acooksjournalblog.wordpress.com.
There is nothing to fix as the theme is performing the exactly way it is designed to. Assuming there is a sidebar designed to display in every theme is incorrect. The Twenty Eleven theme is not designed to display a sidebar on posts when displayed on their own pages.
I want it to list each of my posts chronologically.
The Recent Posts widget displays post titles in reverse chronological order and that cannot be changed. Blogs are essentially a reverse chronological order publishing tool wherein the most recent published post will display on top. You cannot change this order on a free hosted WordPress.com blog. It’s designed to serve your visitors as they come to read the most recent posts and will not be inclined to trawl through hundreds of posts to locate it.
See here for the option of creating a book-like structure > http://en.support.wordpress.com/write-a-book/ Perhaps that will work for you.
Or you could use a single sticky post as an index page > http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#sticky-posts
Or you can falsify every date-stamp before publishing.
There are more workarounds here > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2014/03/08/blog-posts-in-chronological-order/
Thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
Okay, reverse chrono is fine, sorry I wasn’t more clear about that, but where will readers find a list of the posts if they are not listed in a sidebar? I checked in Appearance and the sidebar option is there and was a feature described in the theme when I first chose it. Why isn’t it on the home page at least? Can I use another theme that will do what I want?
but where will readers find a list of the posts if they are not listed in a sidebar?
Here’s a link to an excellent guide for the Twenty Eleven theme and how to set up the Showcase Template.
Thank you very much!
