Mobile Themes break lines for every LaTeX image
I have found that the mobile theme takes all of my LaTeX images and changes them from inline display to block display, making my blog impossible to read on a mobile device.
I can turn off the mobile theme, but the CSS is complicated enough that it’s worse on a mobile device than the mobile theme.
Can the wordpress devs please fix this? It can be seen by viewing the mobile version of the following post: http://jeremykun.com/2013/07/05/reservoir-sampling/
The blog I need help with is jeremykun.com.
Confit is a responsive width theme. Responsive width means the layout adapts depending on the size of the device being used to view your site. When responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading.
Have you tried simply disabling the mobile theme?
Appearance > Mobile
I’ve tried multiple themes and this appears to be a theme independent issue. The problem is in how wordpress treats LaTeX images as special (and hence changes the CSS ‘display’ property to ‘block’) when it shouldn’t. It only does this on the mobile theme.
As I already mentioned, the confit theme is not suitable for mobile devices. But I’m creating this thread because this is a bug in the mobile theme and should be treated as a bug.
Er– I don’t think there are different “mobile versions” of the various themes, there is just one mobile theme, correct? I don’t notice a difference between the mobile themes for Twenty Eleven and Confit, in any case.
Thanks for reporting this! I’ve passed along a note to our theme team with steps to reproduce the issue. Also see https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/latex-images-changed-to-an-odd-color?replies=11#post-1351179
The block level LaTeX elements issue has been fixed (yay!) and http://jeremykun.com/2013/07/05/reservoir-sampling/ looks awesome in the mobile theme now. :)
