monochrome menu messed up

  1. I've been using the monochrome theme and suddenly the menu of categories started messing up and the the space at the top shortened. How can I fix this?

The blog I need help with is

  2. I see what you mean but have no help to offer. perhaps Staff are working on the theme in the backend. Have you contacted them?

  3. @iheartjimmy Do you have the CSS Upgrade the reason I ask is because I was wondering if you have made any CSS changes to your blog.

  4. Yes, I have the upgrade, and I've made changes, but not lately. It happened a couple weeks after I customized it. So I'm just wondering if there is something I can change in CSS to correct it.

  5. I'm going to move this thread over to the CSS forum so devblog will maybe notice the thread and stop by and lend you a helping hand.

  6. Thank you!

  7. Your welcome!

  8. I had a similar problem, and I wonder if the developer or someone at had made some edits to it. I had changed the background image, and suddenly the style of that div changed such that my background disappeared. This happened sometime in the last couple of weeks. The site is

  9. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that after the header changed, I edited the CSS again to make it work. I need to continue working on it because it looks like hell on IE, although in Chrome and FF it's OK.

  10. try removing the background and margin properties that you set for #header_menu

the background property is using a relative path to an nonexistent image
the margin property is moving the menu down 20px

  11. @iheartjimmy I agree with trinovantes. I'd suggest removing your custom #header_menu CSS and then adding back customizations one piece at a time so you can see where it breaks down step-by-step.

To really change the background in monochrome, you'd have to recreate graphics such as header_menu_right.gif and header.gif which have white background colors built in to the images themselves.

  12. @gockow Looks like you're doing quite a bit of customization. Have you looked at using Sandbox for your base theme? The Sandbox themes are very plain to start and were designed specifically for extensive CSS customization.

  13. Yes, that did it. Thank you!

Now do you have any idea how to keep the menu categories having a constant gray background? It only becomes gray after you put the cursor over it.
