I am thinking to move my blog using I have following questions:

    1. exporting > importing — the xls file doesn’t include media files. How can I download-upload media files withouth loosing the links? Can I keep them in the .com domain? In the forum it’s said you can ‘Download & import file attachments‘ but this option doesn’t appear in my control panel.

    2. Do I loose my visits and positioning in google? (I suppose this can be solved with ‘offsite redirect’, but it keeps all links, i.e. is redirected to

Thanks a lot for your help!

The blog I need help with is

    1. The media files are “attachmnet” files and when you import the XML export file into the install there will be an option your can check mark off in order to have all the media files “attachments” included.

    2. The page rank and authority your blog earned under the URL for the sub-domain it was on will not be transferred. They belong to the original root blog and when you move the content to an new URL all the links will be broken and will produce a 404 (page not found) when clicked.. If you purchase a site redirect then the original links will not be broken but when clicked will seamlessly redirect to the same articles under the new domain URLs. Provided your traffic does not drop significantly then it will take about 4 – 6 months for the page rank to be earned again. You can place a single final post on your blog’s front page that directs your readers to your new install.

Hi again! I have already started with the export-import. I get following error when trying to import attachments:

Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 30408704) (tried to allocate 1240999 bytes) in /homepages/16/d337807910/htdocs/asuapedefin/wp/wp-includes/class-http.php on line 1105

By the way, not all pages, comments, entries… have been imported. Shall I try by pieces (I mean, I export all entries, and then all pages… or by date)

    thanks again!

That error can only be corrected in your install. You need to go here > http://wordpress/org/support/ and ask how to increase your memory. You could also check the Codex for instructions.
