mShots option has disappeared from Appearance/Extras
The mShots option has disappeared from all my several blogs Appearance -> Extras menu. It was there just a few days ago.
To view an example blog entry see the following, which uses the Twenty-Ten theme.
This problem appears in Firefox, IE8 & 9, Chrome, and Safari. I have checked the cookies for WordPress.com and the nopreview cookie is not set in any of them
The blog I need help with is laercarroll.com.
I noticed the same thing a few days ago also. It appears to be turned off now for all sites.
Yup, it’s gone. Not sure if it is coming back or not. I never used it so I won’t miss it. Some liked it though.
Several of my visitors did not like it at all, got enough complaints I turned mShots off on most everything.
I wouldn’t mind if WordPress made mShots default to OFF. But I am unhappy if they have removed the option entirely after I have made it part of my blog design.
My guess is that hovercards have done for them. A blog with both enabled would have been a complete nightmare to view.
Lightbox would be nice, though.
I created a topic about this too because I did not find this one when I made a brief search. (1tess pointed this one out to me)
I agree, that if both the hovercards and the mShot were enabled at the same time it could be a problem, but I also think it would be nice if they had left it up to us to choose which option we wanted to use.
I did send a message to Support and asked if this was intentional or if it was just a bug. I also asked if they would be bringing the mShots back.
It would be nice if they could find a way to have hovercards overrule mShots on just the Gravatars, and then have the mShots continue to work on links. Provided of course the blogger wanted them to work.
I guess we will just have to wait and see.
I just got a message from Support telling me that mShots are currently down because they are working on updates.
So I guess we will be seeing them again soon.
