Groetjes mama -
Hello, please ignore the post above. We have been looking into it a bit more on our end, and have found out the following: on any computer the theme’s style.css loads perfectly (found when browsing to it directly) except on my own devices, both PC and iPad, I cannot browse to this file and receive an error stating the webpage couldn’t be found.
Since this is a hosted WP installation and the theme comes directly from WordPress.com I have no idea why this happens… Refresh or reload in browser didn’t help, nor did clearing browser cache, cookies, or data…
Browsers used: latest version of Safari for iPad, Chrome on pc.

Hi there,
I’m sorry for the trouble. Sometimes, this kind of problem is caused by connection issues between your computer and our servers.
Can you please try opening these three links?
- http://s1.wp.com/wp-content/themes/default/style.css?m=1249392855g&3
- http://s2.wp.com/wp-content/themes/default/style.css?m=1249392855g&3
If each page loads correctly, you should see a bunch of text (CSS code) there. That’s the code that gives WordPress.com sites the correct styles and formatting.
If one or more of those links doesn’t open for you, please let me know.
-
Hello, thank you for your time. I cannot open any of the three pages though, all I get is “this webpage is not available” in Chrome…
-
The ipad’s safari says “cannot open because the network connection was lost”, by the way.
-
Thanks for letting me know. That means there’s a connection problem somewhere between your computer and our servers, so we’ll need to find out where that problem is.
On your desktop or laptop computer, can you please do a traceroute to s0.wp.com for me? To run a traceroute on Windows, you can follow these steps:
- Windows 7 or Vista: From the Start Menu, in the search field, type “cmd,” then press ENTER to open a Command Prompt window.
Previous versions of Windows: From the Start menu, click Start → Run, type “cmd” and press ENTER.
- Type the following command into the Command Prompt window, and press ENTER: tracert s0.wp.com
- Allow the command to finish running even if it seems like it’s going to hang. Then, right-click in the Command Prompt window and select MARK. Then, select all of the text in the Command Prompt window and press ENTER.
- Paste it into your reply.
We also have that information here: Advanced Browser Troubleshooting
That will help us figure out where the problem lies.
- Windows 7 or Vista: From the Start Menu, in the search field, type “cmd,” then press ENTER to open a Command Prompt window.

Thank you for that traceroute. Are you by any chance located in Oman? We have had some reports of a similar issue from Oman, and our team is investigating that to see if we can do anything on our end to help.

Thanks for letting me know. If you don’t mind, it would help us to gather some additional information from your end. In particular, we’d like to see the HTTP headers when you try to visit your site. We have instructions for how to get those here:
Once you have screenshots of those HTTP headers, you can upload them to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can email us with those screenshots as attachments.
Thank you!
-
Hello, wen I follow the steps you mention there are no HTTP headers and I got the message, no requests loaded , I tried several times….
-
Thanks for letting me know. Can you please make a screenshot of the screen with that message? (You can upload screenshots to your Media Library under Media > Add New in your dashboard, or you can email us with those screenshots as attachments.)
