My blogrolls aren’t showing…????
All wordpress.com blogs have only one Blogroll located in the Admin area where you enter all links and assign each link to one or more Categories.
The links you enter into your Blogroll are displayed only after the Links widget is placed in your sidebar. Also note that there must be at least one link assigned to a Category before it will appear in your sidebar.
Likewise, the Category widget must be placed in the sidebar for posts to display. And just like links when it comes to posts there must be at least one published post in a Category before the Category will be displayed in your sidebar.
Once your Links widget and Categories widget are positioned in your sidebar, the manner in which the links you entered into your Blogroll will be displayed is alphabetically in accord with the Categories you created and assigned to those links when you entered them into your Blogroll.
Therefore as you will have multiple Categories it may look like you have multiple Blogrolls when you view your links in your sidebar. But in truth, you only have only one Blogroll, which is displays links as separate alphabetically ordered groups, in accord with the Categories that you assigned to those links when you entered them into your Blogroll.

I have spent an hour clicking around on this. Please help! I have read and reread the forum suggestions.
I just edited the widgets in the sidebar, adding “Recent Posts”. After I did this my blogroll disappeared. I cannot find a blogroll widget, or anything else. It looks like all my links have a category “Blogroll.” My blog is artfaircalendar.wordpress.com.
Every blog has a deafult widget arrangement. And as soon as you move one widget you override that default setting. Then you must build the sidebar to appear as you want it too by dragging the widgets you want out of the Available widgets box and placing them in the Sidebar widget box, and clicking “Save Changes”.
When you first start a blog (prior to adding any widgets to the sidebar), the themes will show a “default” set of widgets. Once you add a widget to the sidebar, then the default set will disappear and you will have to add in the widgets you want from the available widgets area, and place them in the order you wish.
Does this mean I have too many different things in my sidebar? that one of them has to go?
The Links widget is the one that displays your Blogroll. It is not configurable. It must be placed in your sidebar to display the Links you entered into your Blogroll and assigned to at least one category. I believe I clearly explained this above.
It was there before I added the new widget…now it has disappeared. What part of what you are saying am I not hearing?
“Blogroll” is not listed as one of the widgets that can be added.
It will be listed as Links probably. As I said, once you add a widget to the sidebar, the default set disappears and you have to add in what you want.
Okay, okay…it is called the “Links” widget…how is one to know that without going crazy here?
Thanks for pointing that out. Yes, it is a lot about slowing down and reading carefully. Thanks.
Please read what I said above. When you added the widget you overrode the default setting in the blog. Now you have to build a sidebar using the instructions I gave you above.
I think I hear what he is saying … but perhaps it simply is not true.
He is saying that you were using a default sidebar that came with your theme. In that default sidebar was a blogroll widget (probably plus others). When you added the new widget, all the other widgets that were part of the default design disappeared and now you have to add them all back in yourself (or at least all the ones you want, including blogroll).
If it is not true that all the other widgets disappeared and that only the blogroll widget disappeared, then the cause is entirely different. And I don’t know what it is.
Hmmm. I should verify that I am at the bottom of the comments before adding my two cents.
Yes, it is a lot about slowing down and reading carefully. Thanks.
Agreed and thanks for the thanks. :-)
The default set of widgets on each theme is different and some only have a couple. All artmaven64 has to do is drag the “links” widget up to the sidebar pane and then click “save changes”.
Yes, the blogroll and links thing is an inconsistency and can be confusing.
She has done that now and she changed the name of the Links widget to “Crafty Blogs”.
And all is well.
