My Feed URL is wrong
Some nice WP staff tried to help me in the forums, but determined that my Feed URL is incorrect, so I needed to contact Support.
Here’s the situation:
On the widgets page, there are 2 kinds of RSS widgets – 1 says just “RSS” and the other says “RSS Links” – the ones I tried say just “RSS.”
I’ve tried all the RSS widgets (because there are a few of them on the widget page) but keep getting the same incorrect feed URL:
(This is the copy/pasted feed URL I get in Safari when I click the RSS button on my site)
(This is what Safari says)
“Java Script Oops! Can’t find a feed.”
(This is the copy/pasted feed URL I get in Google Chrome when I click the RSS button on my site)
(This is what Google Chrome says – btw, I use Google Reader for Feeds, but it doesn’t even get that far…)
“This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.”
Firefox works perfectly & even offers a ton of choices for the feed.
Blog url: http://sylverblaque.wordpress.com/
The first error for feed://sylverblaque.wordpress.com/feed/ is actually normal. It’s not a real feed address, but some applications swap out http:// with feed:// for internal use.
Your real feed URL is http://sylverblaque.wordpress.com/feed/ which brings us to the second error.
That is normal as well. A feed is a stream of data meant to be interpreted by a feed reader. Safari and Firefox have feed reader capabilities and are therefore able to interpret the feed, but Chrome does not.
