My menus don't appear on blog

  1. I recently changed my theme (by mistake) and when I changed it back all my menus are gone. In the dashboard they appear ghosted but I can't seem to make them visable.

  2. Menus shouldn't be deleted when you switch themes - did you use the Menus feature under Appearance with the previous theme?

You don't currently have any menus on your blog. You can create a new menu by entering a name and clicking on Create Menu under Appearance → Menus.

  3. Thanks for the reply. I tried creating a custom menu but that still didn't work. If you look at my blog, the right sidbar has a Categories menu and that's it. There used to be a Posts menu, Meta and Links menus.I'll keep trying

  4. Sounds like you're actually referring to widgets - the little pieces of content in your sidebar.

When you switch between themes on, we try to automatically move over all your widgets too. However, some themes have different sidebar layouts, so we can't automatically determine where to put all your widgets.

In these cases, we move your widgets to the Inactive Widgets section in Appearance → Widgets, and we keep all their settings. You can then just drag them back to their original location.

For more information about widgets, see here:

If you also want to create a custom navigation menu, see detailed instructions here:

  5. Thanks - I'll give it a go.

  6. Hello again,
I've relinked the widgets but Categories is still the only one visable. Is there a button to accept changes that I don't know about?

  7. It looks like you added widgets to other widget areas - not the sidebar. For example, you have one widget in three of the four different widget areas.

Note that you can have multiple widgets in each widget area. Just drag the widgets from the footer and secondary areas to the main sidebar area.
