My posts have shifted to the left
On my Home page, the first post appears as it normally would, but the older posts have all shifted left (at least as viewed on my iPad – they were normal when I last viewed them from my desktop computer).
The blog I need help with is lightlycrunchy.wordpress.com.
Just checked the laptop and the view has shifted to the left there too.
I’m sorry, but I’ve tried this. I have to admit, I don’t know how to look at the code for the widgets – so I know I haven’t touched them. I can’t find any hanging div tags, and I don’t seem to have the option of changing all posts to draft – I get the option to edit all posts or trash all posts. The auto fix XHTML was already checked off.
Ok, I did manage to change the status of all posts to draft and then back to published, but to no effect. Any other suggestions?
What do you mean by “shifting left”? I’m using Firefox 13 and I’m viewing a normal display on the Chunk theme.
Sorry, I said that wrong. The left sidebar (the date, the # of comments, the categories have all written over top of my blog posts. I guess the posts havent shifted left so much as the sidebar has shifted over top of the posts. For the life of me, I can’t find any hanging codes in newer posts. How far back am I supposed to look? It was working fine this morning.
I am seeing a normal display. It sounds line yYou have a browser issue. These are the troubleshooting steps we take whenever any issues like this arise:
clearing your browser cache and cookies > http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
using the browser with all extensions or add-ons disabled
updating the browser to the latest stable version (not a buggy BETA browser version) http://browsehappy.com/
confirming third party cookies is enabled http://support.google.com/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=61416
confirming Flash is updated http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ and if required installing the latest version of Flash http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
resetting your router and modem and rebooting your computer
then logging in using the secure https:// log-in see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
trying another browser
If those do not work for you then we need to know
(1) how you are connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com. The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers. Also note that the main dashboard isn’t designed to work with touch devices through the tablet and smartphone browsers.
(2) exactly which browser and version of it are you using. If you don’t know click here to find out > http://whatsmyuseragent.com/
It did work fine from my home computer – however, I am on another computer that I don’t have permissions to update. If that is all that it is, good. However, the problem just started today and wasn’t there the last time I used this computer. At first glance, everything does appear fine, until I click on a single post or page, then the left sidebar appears on top of the post.
I just clicked into 3 posts and a page and can report that I saw no change at all. They all displayed as expected. Exactly which browser and version of it are you using. If you don’t know click here to find out > http://whatsmyuseragent.com/
This is what it says when I click on the link you provided:
I have flagged this thread for Staff attention.
They all seem fine to me too.
Are you able to upgrade to Internet Explorer 9, or at least try a more modern browser, like Firefox or Chrome?
They seem fine from my home browser too, just not from the computer I was using previously. No, it is not a computer that I would have the ability to update.
Have you tried clearing that browser’s cache?
Yes, I had and it did not work. However, whatever the problem was – whether it was the browser or something else, it seems to be resolved now. Thank you.
Hooray! That’s great news. Happy blogging.
