My wordpress traffic stats stopped!
Yes..but that still does not explain why FeedJit had them coming to my blog at that rate, and why it froze at 396 for an hour when I do get hits from other links and sites.
Hi, timethief!! :) These lovely, helpful people have worn out their patience with me..lol I feel awful!
Ny the way..Wales never showed up in my FeedJit. This morning all the hits that were coming through FeedJit at that pace, were not showing up in my page views..just stopped at 396 for an hour. Another person had the same issue during that hour and posted it in the forums, where I also replied.
If you think that any two stats programs produce the same results then you are wrong. Here’s the bottom line:
Sitemeter, Statcounter, feedjit, etc. wordpress stats and all the others will never agree. Each one of them decides how and what they will count as a hit. Some count page views and some count unique visitors. Therefore, use any of the stats counters only as a general guide to hits.
Understand that an application like feedjit that is not running on the same servers your blog is on is going to be susceptible to wild fluctuations. This is because all hits have to be transferred over the internet to different servers, and there are literally thousands of things that can go wrong between the server your blog is on and the server at the stats place.
Hits, Page Views, Unique Visitors
What is a hit? In web analytics, a hit is any request for a file from a web server. By request means a hit calculates page content delivered, all images to complete that page, and any additional files that need to be loaded to make the web page you are looking at, appear the way it does.
What is a page view? A page view is a request to load a single page of an internet site that results from a page request from a web surfer clicking on a link on another HTML page which is pointing to the page in question.
What is a unique visitor? A unique visitor is access from a single IP to a web server that generates page views and hits during a particular visit. When a visitor has cookies disabled, there is no way of establishing if they are a unique visitor or not.
I have flagged this thread for Staff attention. They will check see if wordpress.com stats are broken and not recording, or counting things as intended. Please be patient while waiting for them to respond.
@lisamichele i’m just a giddy Welsh goat, timethief is the font of all knowledge, you are safer in her hands, i’ll just lead you astray! Good luck :)
Thank you so much, timethief.,.giddygoat and rattlingdoor. I will wait to see what WordPress comes up with when they check. It was completely stopped at 396 page views from 9:00 am until a little after 10:00 am this morning, and a few smaller stops on and off since..if that helps. Not one page view recorded in that hour or so.
Thanks giddygoat..I apologize if I got a tad snappy with you. It wasn’t you ..just the frustration :)
To put this in perspective, stop and imagine the frustration that the bloggers who posted yesterday evening feel. Their threads have yet to receive a single response and this one has received 26.
For the record, I had the same problem. This wasn’t one isolated incident. As a result, it appears my traffic is way down today. Would love to get those page views back since the freeze up happened right after my post went out, which is usually my highest traffic part of the day.
No..I meant the frustration of having a post up on Top 9,..finally being able to reel in some traffic and new readers maybe..and then Murphy’s Law hits me lol I totally understand everyone’s frustration of waiting for an answer. I’m also PMSing..so everything is frustrating *sigh*
I wanted to email WP support like I have in the past..but I could not find an email to do so this time. I’m sorry if this came off horribly obnoxious..it wasn’t meant to be.
