    I want to do the same thing … I think.

    I want to be able to put a border around my menu, have a thin divider between each menu item, and change the background color of both the menu and the drop down menu items …

    here is my site

    but I do not know what to change and I’ve been messing with css for about 3 hrs now :(

    All CSS editing is theme specific. This is a Twenty Ten theme thread and the blog linked to your username is wearing Vigilance. To avoid createing confusion will you please use this link to start your own thread?

    Try this for making the background one color and then the lettering another:

    #access li:hover > a,#access ul ul :hover > a {

    oh sorry, I’ll start a new thread, but for reference and a general question, would I just copy and paste the last post’s code into my blank CSS page (I have nothing on my css page yet)?

    Yes, just copy the CSS into your Appearance → Custom Design → CSS page.
