Need help moving subscribers to new site
Hi there! I saw this post: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/moving-subscribers-to-self-hosted-wordpress-need-staff-help/page/3?replies=74
Where some folks were getting some help moving subscribers from the free wordpress site to self-hosted wordpress. I was hoping I could get some help with this, too.
Thanks so much!
The blog I need help with is upbeateats.wordpress.com.
Staff can move your email subscribers only. Followers using the WordPress.com Reader cannot be transferred. What’s required of you is to:
install and activate the JetPack plugin;
post both URLs into this thread;
type modlook into the tags in the sidebar of this thread.
Hi there, I’ve moved your email subscribers for you. (Note that your WordPress.com followers cannot be transferred.)
I can’t find evergreenevaluation.com on our system anywhere as a Jetpack site. Have you disabled Jetpack on this site?
Interesting! Well, I just double checked and saw that it wasn’t fully linked. I’ve linked it. Can you please check evergreenevaluation.com again?
I’m still not seeing that connection. Can you disable and re-enable your Jetpack on that site?
Let’s keep our conversation on the thread you already started. I’m still not seeing a Jetpack connection for aswirlgirl.com. Can you disable your Jetpack on that site and then re-enable it?
I deactivated and reactived Jetpack on both sites, made sure it was connected to WordPress.com, etc. On both sites, Jetpack is saying “You’re fueled up and ready to go.”
Again, it’s these (both .com, not sure if that matters)
If I can provide any other details, please let me know. Thanks for your persistence!
I’m really sorry for the delayed response.
I’m still not seeing any Jetpack connection for evergreenevaluation.com. Does it have any other URL or is it being forwarded or anything like that?
My name is James. I set up Stephanie’s websites.
Would it help for me to give you the url of the wordpress.com account that is currently associated with evergreenevaluation.com?
Also note, I read elsewhere that if I moved the wordpress.com account from the URL/Jetpack where it had collected subscribers to the URL/Jetpack where I wanted the subscribers that the subscribers would follow the wordpress.com account. That advice was evidently bad – I made the switch, but the subscribers stayed with evergreenevaluation.com. Would that change have made it so that you can’t find evergreenevaluation.com anymore?
Now I am James. The above statements hold. I am eager to work with you to resolve Stephanie and my subscription management issues.
Yes, that could be the culprit.
So, let’s start over! You have a site set up, stephanieevergreen.com, which I CAN find the Jetpack info for. There’s a second site, from which you’d like to transfer subscribers, evergreenevaluation.com, which isn’t showing up on our system at all. So if there is an underlying URL associated with that account, it will be very helpful!
Both evergreenevaluation.com and stephanieevergreen.com are associated with evereval.wordpress.com through jetpack plugins. (Before, evergreenevaluation was using a different URL.wordpress.com – originally it was evereval.wordpress.com, and I reestablished that link.) Are you seeing evergreenevaluation.com now?
James and Stephanie,
Got it! I’ve transferred your subscribers. The problem was that WordPress automatically strips out the “www” part of the address, but your evergreenevaluation.com blog was using that “www” – I was able to backwards track it down using the information provided and transfer those subscribers (finally!)
Just let me know if you need anything else!
Thank you for your diligent support.
