Need help with a self-hosted blog!
I am in need of some help. I contacted wordpress support about the issue of having the wordpress engine within my Dreamweaver site(for a school newspaper). I want to create a story submission system, so I learned that I would need a self-hosted blog. I did some reading in the wordpress help area and it said that web hosts like fantastico would automatically install wordpress. So I’m wondering, in order to get the wordpress engine in my newspaper site will the web host automatically do it or do I need to customize the CSS within Dreamweaver and do it on my own?
If anyone could tell me if I’m on the right track and offer help I’d really appericate it. Thanks!
The blog I need help with is kropnewspaper.wordpress.com.
With the self-hosted version of wordpress, you need to direct your inquiries to http://wordpress.ORG/support/ as that is where the self-hosted version of wordpress is supported.
Also, wordpress itself supports different user roles such as contributor, author, editor and administrator, so in theory you can do all this without having to build another program to interface with wordpress. The thing is that the outside submission program would have to use the XML-RPC API, and that is a mountain of work from what I understand.
Again, you need to inquire at .ORG support, but take a look at this support document which explains the different roles and their levels of permission: http://support.wordpress.com/user-roles/ .
