Need to add admin, but have no admin account
We are a non-profit organization and have a newsletter blog hosted on WordPress.com (datelinehouston). Unfortunately, our latest editor, who was an admin, removed herself as an admin before making sure one of the other admin accounts was still valid. The other admins we had defined use email addresses we no longer have or use, so now we do not have admin access to the blog.
Can you help us add a new admin account (or make me an admin so I can resolve this issue for our organization)?
Are you able to contact the admin of the blog?
Blogs aren’t owned by organizations, groups or business. They are solely owned by the username accounts that register them and who are the Admin of the blog.
The Admin of the blog can recover the blog. re: lost log-in information he/she/ can visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword and if required click the “Need More Help” link and complete the form for account recovery.
Then the Admin will be able to log-in, add another username account as an Admin and transfer blog ownership to that username account. http://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-user-or-account
We can’t modify a blog, including adding or changing the privileges of users, without a request from the blog owner.
It appears you have admin privileges on datelinehouston.wordpress.com, however. Was this the blog in question?
We were able to recover an account using the “Need More Help” link on the https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword page. Then, I was able to add my account as an admin and clean things up as needed.
Thank you for your help!
Hooray! Best wishes with the blog.
