Need to upgrade to DNS mapping
Last four years i’ve managed my website raghul.org at wordpress.com. Due to payment issue recently i switch/ transfer my domain to godaddy. I’m not aware of that dns mapping and edit is restricted in WordPress. in-order to map dns alone to raghul.org previously configured at WordPress.com any possibilities.
The blog I need help with is raghulr.wordpress.com.
I’m not sure I understand what you would like to do. Are you saying that you want to –
- transfer your domain name registration to GoDaddy, but continue to host your site at WordPress.com, or
- transfer your domain name registration and your site to GoDaddy, and no longer host your site at WordPress.com?
If you intend doing number #1, take a look at this support document about updating your name servers. You’ll need to register your domain name with GoDaddy, and then update your name servers on WordPress.com so that visitors to raghul.org will continue to arrive at raghulr.wordpress.com.
On the other hand, if you want to move your site across to GoDaddy’s servers, along with your domain name registration (so that your site will no longer be hosted on WordPress.com), I recommend that you head over to the WordPress.org support forum and request help from the great community there.
This forum is for sites that are hosted on WordPress.com, not self-hosted WordPress.org sites. Here is some information about the differences between the two: WordPress.com and WordPress.org
Yes i understood. For hosting at wordpress.com charges $13 alone previous year, now i’m not able to upgrade that option. It directly goes to $96 upgrade. I’m unaware that if i transfer my domain to godaddy i’can able to update the nameservers at wordpress.com. Otherwise i didn’t transfer to godaddy i bought domain for 3 years at godaddy.
Since my DNS hosting validity expired on 17th December 2017. it is possible to avail or retrive the hosting option alone from wordpress.com.
If i try to forwarded my raghulr.wordpress.com also dont work at godaddy.
It looks like your domain is registered with GoDaddy, and that your name servers are configured for WordPress.com. It also looks like your domain is locked for some reason. I’ve tagged this thread for the Happiness Engineer team to take a look and see if they can work out what the reason is.
One possible reason is that your domain name registration lapsed on 17 December (if I understand your point correctly). In that case, this may be helpful: Domain Expiration
Regarding your last statement, you wouldn’t be able to redirect your WordPress.com domain to GoDaddy.
I checked your account and raghul.org has not been connected to your WordPress.com account since November of 2013. Like @pauljacobson mentioned, the domain is registered with Go Daddy, and you will most likely need to touch base with them to get the domain back up and running.
Please let me know if you have any questions or what Go Daddy says when you reach out to them.
No sir, mapped my domain in wordpress.com since from 2012 to december 2017. But from 2013 i renew my site through my adword earning. Due to payment issue in india i’m not able to renew my domain this year. But i contacted wordpress.com to renew my site by my adwords earning, email from wordpress.com no possibility. This time i’m cornered so moved to godaddy for my transfer of domain alone. Unfortunately unaware of hosting at wordpress not redirected
I see. I would recommend touching base with Go Daddy to see what issue may be with your domain. We now have no control over the domain. Let me know what they say.
Godaddy ask me for hosting IP address inorder to point my domain.
I read some articles wordpress.com does not have static ip.
Finally search and work around solution is that simply domain name doesn’t point to my blog raghulr.wordpress.com.
I need to upgrade my hosting at wordpress.com eventhough have domain at another registrar.
My final question is can i able to purchase the hosting alone at wordpress.com for the amount of previously provided $13 instead $96.
The best way to map a domain to a WordPress.com blog is to set your domain’s name servers to the following values:
However, if your registrar requires that you create A records, please note that our IPs change over time. Because of this, your domain might stop working at some point in the future. If that happens, please get in touch with us to find out the most current IPs and then update your A records, accordingly.
If you still want to map your domain using A records, please be sure to create two records using these IP addresses:
Thank you sir. Now my domain is UP.
from my blog raghulr.wordpress.com to raghul.org
