need username returned correctly – changed at top of blog all by itself!
correct user name not appearing at top of blog – I did not switch it, readers asking where ‘alchemynow’ went – my account says that name is still there, ‘Linda Lloyd’ is showing at top of toolbar – has been this way for weeks – readers complaining ‘alchemynow’ has vanished –
Blog url: http://stopthestorm.wordpress.com/
The blog I need help with is stopthestorm.wordpress.com.
Faithful blog reader from the start of my blog just sent me this via email:
just wanted to let you know you’re missed on wordpress. Hugs.
I’ve never gone anywhere – I am guessing this mysterious ‘name change’ has removed access by readers somehow? thanks, you wizards, ahead of time for your brilliant assistance!

I’m not seeing ‘Linda Lloyd’ anywhere on your blog…
I see it at the top bar beside my avatar – where it used to say ‘alchemynow’ as it was supposed to. I have contacted the reader who emailed me today to see if she can tell me where she used to see ‘alchemynow’ listed with posts and now does not see them –
I cannot find anywhere on my blog where this switch could have been made on my end – I never paired Linda Lloyd (my maiden name) with my avatar – as it is on my top toolbar – although alchemynow seems to appear with my avatar as it does HERE –
not sure this is causing the problem the reader is noticing or not….. appreciate your reply!
…do you mean the dark grey bar across the top of your blog? If so it’s only visible to people who are logged into WordPress. Non-WP readers would not be able to see it.
On the left hand side you should see the name of the blog you’re visiting, so when you’re on your blog it’ll read “Stop The Storm”.
On the right hand side of the bar you’ll see your avatar and the name you’ve chosen to blog under — which can be different than your username (alchemynow). This is only visible to you.
The ‘name’ and avatar on the right hand side are a drop-down menu for all of your blog actions. This really shouldn’t be visible to anyone else.
If you go here:
Dashboard > Users > My Public Profile > Display name publicly as
or just click here, while logged in:
Make sure the ‘display name’ is the one you want it to be…
“do you mean the dark grey bar across the top of your blog? If so it’s only visible to people who are logged into WordPress. Non-WP readers would not be able to see it.”
because it is a wordpress user that alerted me to my ‘missing blog’ – this person WOULD see Linda Lloyd on the dark bar instead of ‘alchemynow’ as she should see
“The ‘name’ and avatar on the right hand side are a drop-down menu for all of your blog actions.”
the drop-down shows alchemynow – UNDER the top dark bar ‘Linda Lloyd”
I found my way as you suggest to ‘my public profile ‘ but could not click on the link you enclosed…-
user name – correct as alchemynow
this is where, then, I listed ‘Linda Lloyd’ as first name
Display name publicly – correct as alchemynow
I am going to replace all versions of my name showing here with alchemynow
that fixes that, and I thank you very much
now to see what the blog reader has to say….
No. The blog viewers will NEVER see your username on that admin bar. They will only see their own.
