Newbie trouble: adding an image to a post
Hello. I am completely new to WordPress blogging and I have been at a stumbling block for days now and I haven’t been able to find a slution. I’d like to add images to my blog post, referably such that you can open them (say a PDF or a JPG) in a separate window (as they may be detailed and require zooming in) and read the post about what can be seen in the image.
But even a standard image in a post fails. The only thing I have been able to get is a link in my post that works in loading the image if you click on it. But that is not displaying it directly on page. I don’t want to publish until I get this right.
A solution would be small thumbnails in the text that popup a small segment of a larger image if you click on them. But just getting an image displayed in my preview that opens a new window with the full image in it should sufice for now.
The blog I need help with is archimatemusings.wordpress.com.
To insert an image from your computer, you click the Add an Image button of the post editor, click “Select files”, select the file, wait till it gets uploaded. select size and alignment in the window that pops up.
Same window includes other options. To make the image open in a separate page with notes on it, you need to add those notes in the “Description” field and click the “Post URL” option.
If you only managed to get a link in your post instead of a thumbnail, then you probably tried it with a PDF instead of a JPG or a PNG. PDF files are not images, and cannot be directly inserted in your posts.
When an image is in the post, if you click on the image, it will come up large, in a new tab/window. For example, in a post of mine I have a picture, it will come up in the URL “http://jessiethought.files.wordpress.com/2011/05/ladybug.jpg”
Please don’t cause confusion by posting into forum threads unless you have a specific solution to provide.
