No admin bar or dashboard access

  1. I created a blog today -

While editing it today I realized I did not have admin access - I cannot access the dashboard or the admin bar.
Can you please help me out? I'd like to be able to add media, which I currently can't do.

The blog I need help with is

  2. That's really perplexing. Is there some way you might have added a second user profile, and are logging in with the secondary one? You should be fine as admin with the login you used to create the blog.

  3. ~~lettergrade

Please ask yourself these two questions:

    1. How many username accounts do I have?

    2. Exactly which username account was I logged in under as Admin when I registered ?

You must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access the blog.

Clicking this link should display all your blogs registered under the same username, including the hidden ones:

If you do not see the blog here then
    follow this guide >

If you have lost your log-in information you can visit
and if required click the "Need More Help" link and complete the form for account recovery.

  4. @timethief clearly you've done this before ;)

  5. Clearly I've been doing this for over 7 years now and that's years longer than most support Staff have even been on Staff. lol :D

  6. Timethief,
Thank you so much for your help! It's still not working though. It says I'm following my own blog, but allows me to create posts with limited features. I tried following the steps you suggested but do not have dashboard or an admin bar, so I'm not able to do anything.

I only have the one log in - ashleao and I know this because I created it yesterday at the same time I created the blog.

    Any other suggestions?

  7. I'm having the same issue, I'm following another thread where a staff member said that a lot of new members are part of a 'test' they're doing. I'm awaiting a response from them on how to end the test early.

  8. @freshofftheehook
Oh really? How fascinating that information is and were any of those bloggers whose blogs were selected for said testing notified of this testing? Or was the inability to access one's own dashboard sprung on you as a surprise?

I opened my page on the 14th I believe and was asking other people how to do some things and realized I had no dashboard, been trouble shooting since. I'm hoping they get back to me soon!

  10. Hi there,

As explained elsewhere, we have a short-term test going on that has changed how a small percent of new users see when creating new accounts.

If you are in that group and need access to your Dashboard, please first try clearing your browser cache:

After that, if you still are having trouble, please post in the following thread:

and we will contact you privately.
