No Ads options

  • Hi,

I was wondering if the ‘personal’ payment option is available for websites run by non-profits? We have a small WordPress site and do not want adverts to be shown to visitors to the site.

Alternatively, is it ok to put a line of text on each page along the lines of ‘the adverts displayed on this page are not controlled by the creators of the website’ or does that breach WordPress terms and conditions?

    Thanks!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there, Perhaps I misunderstand. Is your site grandfathered in on the old domain mapping upgrade (only)?

If your above website is already on the Personal plan (and you would need an upgrade plan to use a custom domain name here on WordPressdotcom if your site is not grandfathered in) No Ads is included in your plan. See the features listed here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  • Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for the quick response. I’m not sure if it was grandfathered on the domain mapping upgrade only, as I took over management of this site – how would I check?

It’s not currently on the personal plan, as upgrading to that is shown as an option when I log in.

    Thanks

  • Hello again, I’ve gone ahead and tagged this for Staff attention, but if you have a domain mapping upgrade or any upgrade at all under this username account you’ll be able to see it in your billing history area: https://wordpress.com/me/purchases/billing

  • Hi jmtrust,

It is, yes. Our plans can be purchased for any type of site on WordPress.com and you can do so from the Plans page. This guide has more information about ads and how they can be removed:

We are happy for you to go ahead and do this. The message can be added anywhere on your site — the sidebar or footer widget areas might be the best place as they appear on every page. But it’s up to you :)

  • Thanks – looks like we pay for domain name and mapping only but will pay to upgrade.

  • Hi jmtrust,

That’s right — the domain you registered through WordPress.com is currently the only upgrade on your account.

  • Hey @gemmacevans, if @jmtrust upgrades to the Personal plan, will the plan be prorated to include the domain he registered through WordPressdotcom? (I think I know the answer to this, but just want to double check.)

  • @justjennifer — they should receive a discount on the plan cost because they have already purchased the domain.

@jmtrust — information about the discount will be displayed in your cart, underneath the total on the left. The discount will only apply to this purchase as the plan and domain will renew together (at the regular plan price) going forward.
