not delete-able category
A minor problem has occurred in my category-list.
I have a category named “divaca2” which is useless but I cannot delete it…
Using Posts>Categories , the category does not show up.
But when I write a new Post, the category appears in the checkbox-list.
This category is not – and has never been – a default category.
I have added one test post in this category, but this does not help.
Thanks for your help.
The blog I need help with is reisleider.wordpress.com.
Please provide us with the url for your wordpress.COM blog starting with http://
If you do not have a wordpress.COM free hosted blog but instead have downloaded free software from wordpress.ORG then you are posting to the wrong support forum. The correct one in that case is http://wordpress.ORG/support/
I’m sorry, thought I submitted the address :
it is http://reisleider.wordpress.com.
I’m having the same problem with a category named “124.” I never created it, don’t know where it came from, and have tried everything I can think of to delete it but it won’t go away. It keeps showing up in the sidebar list of categories when I am creating a post. Very annoying because I often check it by mistake — it’s first on the list. Blog is at http://piedtype.wordpress.com
That’s what happens if you delete the Uncategorized category and haven’t defined another as the Default for your blog.
But I never deleted the “Uncategorized” category… It is not even possible to delete it.
Go to settings > writing and set a default post category there other than the one that is now set. Then go to your blog and click on the category in the sidebar that keeps getting created. That should bring up any posts that have that category assigned to them. Open those posts and set new categories for them and deselect the numbered category making sure to save the posts.
Go to posts > categories and delete the numbered category.
