Not receiving email notifications for comments posted on blog

  1. Hi there - I'm not getting email notifications of new comments posted to my blog. I have checked my settings, and it looks like the appropriate box is checked - yet nothing is coming in to my email inbox. I am receiving other emails, so I don't think the issue is on the email side of things; and I have checked my Junk and Deleted Items folders, and no emails are hiding there… Any thoughts on how to get email notifications back up and running? Thanks for the help!

  5. Hi there - can you both please make sure that your correct email address is listed here:

    I note that you are both hosted with the same email client (Comcast) and in the past, we've had reports of them blocking emails from for some reason. Can you please whitelist emails from * (all emails from the domain) and/or [email redacted]?

    I did double-check my email settings, and the correct email address is listed there. I have also already ensured that the appropriate WordPress emails are in the "not junk mail" processing rules.

    Any other ideas/suggestions/things I can look into? As an FYI, eurello's email is the first one I received on this issue - so another example of how I am not getting all notifications from WordPress. :(

  7. Hi Stef - Figured it out! You've (probably accidentally) blocked from sending you emails. Go here:

    Uncheck the 'block emails' box at the bottom and update.

  9. I am now getting some comments but not all. I did what you all suggested which allowed a few but for some reason others just don't make my in-box.


  10. 12/30 update: I took the action of unchecking the "block emails" box - but I am still not receiving emails about comments and follows on my blog. (I should have received two last night.) Any other problem-solving ideas to offer?

  11. Stef and Katry - please provide a couple of example links to specific comments or follows that you haven't gotten an email about. Also, check your junk/spam folder now that your emails are unblocked.

    And were you able to whitelist emails from * @ (all emails from the domain) and/or no-reply @ in your email client?

  12. One example of a follow I didn't get notified about: this user followed me 6 hours ago.

    One example of a comment I didn't get notified about (this user left the comment 7 hours ago):

    Nothing is in my junk/spam folder. And yes, I did add the addresses to my "safe senders" list.

    The only comment for which I received notification was the last one posted at 3:56. I had to check my blog for the others so I could respond to them.

  14. I didn't receive an email notification for Katry's latest entry to this thread, either. (And the "Notify me of followup posts via email" box is and has been checked.

  15. Ok, thanks very much for the detailed comments. I've passed this along to our systems team, and they found that some of our emails aren't getting through to Comcast. They're working on this, and I'll keep you updated. :)

  16. I got some comments today from postings two days ago. I had already answered them as I had checked frequently, but it was still a positive note to see even the old comments starting to appear.

  20. Hi there - It seems that email notifications have stopped working for me again. Can you please check in to this one more time and let me know if a flip accidentally got switched on the WordPress side of things? I haven't changed anything on my end….. Thanks!

    Mine had also stopped again. This time it was for three days so I went back to checking the blog for comments so I could answer them.

    After the three days, the comments starting appearing in my e-mail including the new ones and old ones from those three days when they hadn't appeared. The problem seems to have been fixed.

  24. Hi Stef - Awesome! Comcast had blocked our emails again (I don't know why), but our systems team contacted them and they unblocked it.

  25. I am having the same problem, not receiving notifications for my blog. I do receive notifications of new posts and comments for other blogs. Would it be possible for Comcast to allow those but not email notifications for my blog? I use Windows Live for POP3 and do not use Comcast webmail. I did go online but did not see anything for an approved list.

    The blog I need help with is I've posted requests to support in two other places because until today, I found comments closed on all forums regarding this matter. It is really frustrating because when other bloggers leave a "like" behind, I like visiting their blog and haven't been able to do that because I am not receiving those notifications either.

    How can I receive notifications for new posts and comments for other blogs, but not my own, when the same email address is used?

  26. Think I figured it out because I'm now getting notifications for comments and likes.

    I went to Comcast webmail and entered * into the address book and the URL to my blog as the website.

  27. Oops. I may have spoken too soon. I just took a look on the Admin side for comments and I have not received notification for the most recent ones. I did, however, receive notification of a re-blog.

  28. @blackbutterfly768, it looks like you have the following setting for the blog at

    You get instant post emails and no comment emails for this blog

    So you should be getting emails for all new posts but not for comments. You can modify that if you wish at

    At you do not have email notifications turned on when someone Likes one of your comments, but you can enable that as well if you'd like.

    Thanks for your help. I went to Comcast webmail and added * into the address book with the URL to my blog as the website. It seemed to take it awhile before I started receiving notification of new comments, but eventually that started.
