nothing on dashboard
I have a blog but no dashboard
The site linked to your username is not a free hosted WordPress.com blog. You are posting to the wrong support forum.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate. See here http://wordpress.ORG/support/ and if you have not registered a WordPress.org username account yet you can do so on the top right hand corner of the page I just linked to so you can post to those support forums.
WordPress.com vs WordPress.org: The Differences
I believe I’m aware of the differences between the paid and non-paid service. I HAVE a paid service for CanineTrackersBlog.com.
My CanineTrackers.Wordpress.com was given to me as a free service.
I’d like to keep both of them
I really appreciate your getting back to me right away. Thanks and…
This is the site linked to your username http://www.caninetrackers.com/ and there’s zero doubt about the fact that it’s not being hosted by WordPress.com. caninetrackers.com Is Hosted by Cox Communications
I have a blog but no dashboard
Are you referring to this exact blog or not?
Yes, it had been published and there was no problem getting to the dashboard if I wanted to add another blog.
I was able to set up a blog for Fluffy under caninetracker.wordpress.com. It was available. Since then, every time I log on to Vinny’s Blog at caninetrackers.wordpress.com I get taken to Fluffy’s dashboard at caninetracker.wordpress.com. I decided that perhaps deleting Fluffy’s Blog would restore Vinny’s Blog to the way it had been before.
By the way, I never mentioned http://www.caninetrackers.com.
I didn’t state that you mentioned it. I stated that it’s linked to your WordPress.COM username, it’s not a free hosted WordPress.com blog and it’s being Hosted by Cox Communications.
I understood what you said the first time. I didn’t imply that you stated that I mentioned it. Nevertheless, I apologize for not being cogent. Please tell me who is hosting caninetrackers.wordpress.com?
Under the same account I applied for another free wordpress service, namely, caninetracker.wordpress.com. (The latter I deleted because the caninetrackers.wordpress.com would always bring me to caninetracker.wordpress.com, where I haven’t entered any blogs.)
Those domains were available and they were set up for me under the free plan. I’m aware of the paid blog service CanineTrackersBlog.com. At the risk of being repetitious, please tell me what happened to my caninetrackers.wordpress.com?
We are volunteers, fellow bloggers and cannot see “behind the scenes” as staff can.
So, to be clear:
This topic is about 3 different sites? (We will ignore http://www.caninetrackers.com because it has nothing to do with any wordpress software/platform.)
http://caninetrackers.wordpress.com/ is hosted on WordPress.com
2 months old
http://caninetracker.wordpress.com/ has been deleted
Did you sign up for both of those wp.com blogs with the same email address? Or did Vinny and Fluffy have separate email addresses?
mel1dagay is another account? That is, another email address?
It appears that this is a different email/separate account: 9 months old.
If you are logged in with the email set up for Vinny’s blog, can you reach the dashboard with this link?
Thank you so much for your swift and thoughtful reply (I wasn’t expecting that.)
When I place a comment on my sister’s blog I am instructed to sign in, so I sign in with my Gmail address and the same long password. Then I get a message “You are commenting as “Mel1nda” (which I didn’t mind although it struck me funny then because I log in to my blog using just Melinda.)
I messed up somewhere along the line, but my intention was to have a blog for Vinny and a blog for Fluffy. Vinny’s blog was the caninetrackers.wordpress.com. which I had no problem getting into the dashboard then.
When I saw the button “Create Another Blog” I clicked it and then I was prompted to choose a domain. Since CanineTrackers.Wordpress.com was taken, I entered CanineTracker.Wordpress.com, and the system accepted it as such.
I could log in to both of them, but I was always directed to Fluffy’s dashboard, which has nothing in it, unlike Vinny’s.
I deleted Fluffy’s blog in an attempt to restore the way the blog was functioning before. Now, when I log into Vinny’s dashboard, nothing is there. I would have to start from scratch. (Which I’m not really worried about.)
I’m just wondering how I could have handled it better. My blogs are very simple (that’s why I was hoping to try out three).
We really can’t tell what is your sister’s blog and what isn’t. How do we know who your sister is? Please specify blogs via URL. Blogs that are deleted are permanently deleted.
You’re currently only the blog owner of http://vinnyandfluffy.wordpress.com/
Please follow the instructions carefully. You’ll receive two separate emails during the reset process, so make sure you read them both. If you don’t receive the emails right away, check your spam folders as well. The confirmation emails can get caught in them sometimes :)
Wow…thanks for reminding me. It’s been so hectic I had forgotten I registered for vinnyandfluffy.wordpress.com.
As regards the http://caninetrackers.wordpress.com, I’ve gone through the process several times, each time getting a new password; and each time able to login, but at the dashboard all my previous material is non-existent.
I can go to the site, but if for example I wanted to edit the blog that’s already there, the dashboard offers me no provisions to do so.
Anyway, since you’ve informed me that I do have a blog for VinnyAndFluffy, it might be best to delete the caninetrackers.wordpress.com account so’s not to be superfluous, and better yet- make it easier on myself, not being a writer.
Thank you so much for thoughtful guidance. Problem solved!
What username are you trying to use when logging in? I assume it does give you access to http://caninetrackers.wordpress.com/ ?
What happened? All of a sudden I sign in to http://caninetrackers.wordpress.com and there’s a dashboard there :)
I also signed in to http://vinnyandfluffy.wordpress.com using the same user info: Mel1nda or Melinda, either one works, and I got in the dashboard, too!
Uh, the above is just a figure of speech. I don’t really need to know what happened.
Thank you so much!
Hi! I tried signing in to http://caninetrackers.wordpress.com, and I’m getting the same problem over again:
“User mel1nda Cannot Access the Dashboard Requested”.
I was able to sign into http://caninetrackers.wordpress.com, but got redirected to VinnyAndFluffy.Wordpress.com.
I don’t know what I’m going to do now. Thanks just the same.
