Order in categories possible?
The categories I’ve added to my new blog are automatically ordered alphabetically. Is it possible to make a different order then that?
And if not:
I want to make a manual with chapters and paragraphs where people can respond to. Is a blog the right medium for doing so?
There is no means of over-riding the alphabetical display of categories unless you are willing to insert numbers prior to the titles. Perhaps you will find this idea suits you http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/11/04/how-to-write-a-book/
That’s a very good solution, thanks!
There is one problem (already suggested in the article you mentioned), which is that on the top of pages, links to next and previous messages are displayed, which break the flow.
Can these links be switched off, somehow?
I don’t believe they can be removed but I’m not clear on that so I’ll bump this to drmike.
A link to your blog to see what’s occuring would help.
I’m guessing you’re talking about a list within your sidebar, right? Changes are the best bet would be to copy and paste the html into a text widget and put them in the order that you want them in. What kind of order where you talking about anyway?
Sorry, I wasn’t clear.
Since I use messages as chapters of a manual, on top of the page links are shown to the older and newer message. And I don’t want these links since they break my chapter-flow.
Would a static front page with links directly to the messages/ chapters/ posts/ whatever work better for you?
Yes, I think so. Thanks.
Someone explain static front pages please. I’m running off to play volenteer for the evening.
