Outside contributor

Trying to let someone build my website, but not sure which role to choose. I accidentally gave them access to my blog only, but want them to have access to entire site. Right now they cannot see my dashboard
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

HI There-
You can assign roles and they will only be able to see that site.
Usually if you set them as an Administrator they will have full access to your website and can customize, change layouts, etc.
Here is some more info on user roles:

To add, after they are done, you can change their role or delete that user so they won’t access your site anymore.

Typically Editor has access to pages, posts, comments, etc. But they won’t be able to change the look of the site, just see the posts.
Hope that makes sense.

under the user roles page on wordpress it says:
“Editor
An Editor can create, edit, publish, and delete any post or page (not just their own), as well as moderate comments and manage categories, tags, and links.”
Which makes me think they can change the look of the website? Or do they need to be admins for this?
Seems like it would be a pretty common question…

Hi @lovethebagblog,
If you would like to give someone access to your full site, you would need to provide them with Administrator access. This will allow them the same access you have. Nothing off limits.
Ultimately it is up to you which role to assign, but that is my suggestion. I hope that helps.

Yeah they would need to be an Admin. The editor just has access to the posts and pages.
Admins can access the Customize option in Themes when they can then change the look and feel of the site.
