Oxygen Header Disappears When Child Installed

I’m trying to create a child theme using Oxygen. When I create the files and refresh my web page, the navigation header bar underneath the header completely disappears. If I return to the parent theme, it’s back. But, the css and rtl files are essentially empty other than the import function. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

Note: please respond using layman’s terms. I’m not an experienced coder.

The blog I need help with is artisancos.wordpress.com.

If you are doing child themes, then that site is self-hosted and you need to head over to the WordPress.org forums as that is where the software you are using is supported.

These forums are for those hosted here on the wordpress.COM hosting service and things here work differently.

If you are not familiar with the differences, see this support document.
