Oxygen theme iPad issues

Has anyone else noticed that all blogs using the Oxygen theme has an issue on the iPad? Only the top (most recent article) can be clicked through from the landing page picture. Clicking on any other picture or “Read Article” button (other than the top post) doesn’t do anything. Luckily the Recent posts widget works, but is there a way to fix this problem? It is only a problem when viewing on the iPad, all other browsers and OS versions are fine.

The blog I need help with is barflysf.com.

This thread will be moved to the Themes Forum where Themes Staff will respond to the issue you report. I’ll tag this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to the thread, so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

    Hi @barflysf,

Apologies for the late reply. Are you still running into this issue? I tested your site and several other sites using Oxygen on an iPad, and all posts loaded for me.

Thanks for the response. It doesn’t seem to be a problem on aniPad3 but does seem to be an issue on my iPad2 which is what i use mst of he time. I’ll have to check with other friends who have older iPads to see if this isn’t an olated issue.

I have the current iPad. I also have this issue.
Cannot load a post from the front page (by clicking the Read Article or Post name) – have to use the side bar but that only show recent posts.

I double-checked your sites on my iPad and also could not re-create the issue, all posts were accessible.

There are some hover styles on the image and the post title that may delay the recognition of a click, versus just a focus on the element. Is that maybe the issue you are experiencing?

kobenland, thanks for checking. No, that is not the problem. It seems to be a problem that is inconsistent between iPads. Not sure how to resolve this or figure out which iPads work or not, but the behavior is consistent on the iPad itself (e.g. my iPad2 will consistently not work and my new gen iPad consistently has not issues). But there is no way of knowing which iPad will work or not.

Is there a setting I can change somewhere in or outside of WordPress?
I confirm I have downloaded the latest IOS and WordPress app.
I use WordPress via Safari though not through the IPad WordPress app.

That’s a good point Jordan. The problem is with viewing from Safari. The site seems to work fine from the iPad WordPress App, but not through Safari. I also have the latest iOS.

Aha, now we are… somewhere. I try that and report back. The concern is still for the readership who will become frustrated with a site whose posts do not open. Do I also bring this up with the Oxygen people or is it assumed they read these forums? Not keen to change theme but will have to I think.

Jordan, as far as I know, this is the only way to report the Oxygen theme issues. A couple of staff members have responded so hopefully we find one that experiences the same issue that you and I are seeing.

I have the same problem with my iPad 4 in Safari but it seems to work ok when I use the Mercury browser.

It seems Oxygen’s front page does not comprehend that there is a link.
The awkward work-around is to press the link on ipad and make it open in a new window rather than being intuitively opened. Or go back into post edit to find old posts. Any word fromOxygen?
Mercury, hmm, not sure if I want yet more software!

Howdy! Just popping in to say I’m also unable to reproduce this issue in Safari on an iPad 1 or iPad Mini.

Until one of the staff can reproduce it we’re in a bit of a holding pattern, but we’ll keep trying. Thank you for your patience!
