Page background color problem in Oxygen theme

Hi, I am quite familiar with WordPress.com themes but am trying a new theme, Oxygen, for a new project. I am trying to set one colour for the background and another for the page, but every time I set the background colour this shows through the page as if the page were transparent.

So, instead of having a white page on a blue background, I have an entirely blue screen with isolated boxes of different colours floating on it. Not what I wanted!

I do not want to pay for the custom css upgrade as I think this must be a bug, or I am being stupid. Can anyone help? My blog is http://www.tligloucestershire.wordpress.com and is currently set to white.

    Many thanks

The blog I need help with is tligloucestershire.wordpress.com.

It’s not possible to do that. The background you chhose to have applies to every page in the blog. You can select only one background color for all posts and pages throughout the blog or one custom image background.
