en WordPress.com Forums › Support Page jump anchor points disappearing Author Posts January 17, 2013 at 9:52 am #1128625 gabrielinindiaMember I normally write my blog posts a week in advance and set them to publish automatically. When writing them, I normally set up page jumps – eg. “Click here to skip to the section about XYZ.” But when the posts are published, the links still function but the coding for the anchor points, ie. text has disappeared. Why? And what can I do about it? The blog I need help with is gabrielquotes.org.uk. January 17, 2013 at 9:53 am #1128721 gabrielinindiaMember Sorry, don’t know why my example of code didn’t show up above, but it’s the second example given at http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/page-jumps/#create-a-page-jump January 17, 2013 at 11:27 am #1128744 justpiMember To display code correctly here, you need to enclose it in backticks (see the note on “Allowed markup”). January 19, 2013 at 8:21 am #1128839 teunspaansMember Hi, I have a page with anchors like <a name=”123″ />. This worked fine in some pages, but in a new page all text after this anchor is not displayed. What causes this and what can I do about it? January 19, 2013 at 8:30 am #1128840 teunspaansMember Ugh, no preview here? The new line characters of course arent there. Maybe this works better: January 19, 2013 at 9:02 am #1128841 justpiMember a) To display code here, you don’t enclose each symbol in backticks, you enclose all the code in backticks. b) Viewing the sourcecode of this page I can see what you tried to paste, and it’s not correct: the a tag isn’t a self-closing tag. For correct coding see this post of mine: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/08/01/links-to-specific-points-on-a-page/ January 19, 2013 at 10:35 am #1128842 teunspaansMember Justpi: thank you. That indeed solves it. I see these pages are html, not xhtml. January 21, 2013 at 3:22 pm #1128853 gabrielinindiaMember ….but none of these actually answer my question :( January 21, 2013 at 5:52 pm #1128854 justpiMember @gabrielinindia: If the code disappears it’s wrong code. So this should answer your question: For correct coding see this post of mine: http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2010/08/01/links-to-specific-points-on-a-page/ Author Posts The topic ‘Page jump anchor points disappearing’ is closed to new replies.
