is there anyway to make the a page link to a website when you click on it i.e. on the header menu? as opposed to linking via blogroll? i know there is a way you can do it in regular wordpress with a plugin, but here i am lost. thanks.

Unfortunately there’s no way for us to do what you want on a wp.com blog. :(
Simple as that. It can’t be done – the functionality just isn’t there.

Ditto. You would have to edit the theme and, if you did, it would change it for everybody who uses that theme.
