Password protected pages not accessible from Internet Explorer

    This comes up several times on the forums but with no answer (that I can find).
    We have created 3 pages under the ‘Sign in’ tab on our homepage:

    They are password protected in Opera, Firefox, Chrome and Safari with all the correct log in behaviour but in IE8, the password request box appears on each protected page but entering the password just brings back the password request as if nothing was ever entered.

    It seems there is a compatibility issue with IE8 but as so many of our visitors are on it, we need to make it work for them.

    Support have left the building until the 29th Oct… Can anyone else help?

    Do you have any luck if you change the password on the post?

    Also, is there any chance that you could upgrade to IE 9? It’s really a greatly improved version.

    We have tried changing the passwords but nothing changes.

    Also, we use Chrome where it all works perfectly. It is our clients who need to access the site with their browsers and we can’t guarantee they all have the latest versions.

    Is there any magic that can be done?
