Pause Animated GIFs?

    Is it possible to add some code wrapper to animated GIFs so that they’re paused when the page loads and only start playing on demand? Or is there another option available I don’t know about yet?

    I’ve seen some JScript out there, but we are unable to use that in WordPress.com sites.
