    Ok, I’ve searched this forum inside and out and I can’t figure out how to do this. I am trying to add text to the top of my blog that will remain there permanently, saying something like….

    If you’re new here, you may want to learn what this site(like to about my blog) is about. I encourage you to subscribe to my RSS feed (link to my rss feed). Thanks for visiting!

    Any help would be greatly appreciated. Here is the link to my blog if it helps

    The blog I need help with is

    You can mark such a post as a “sticky” (under Publish > Visibility). Or you can put the text in a text widget placed on top of all other widgets. (Or you can set a static front page with the message.)

    On another issue: your poll is too wide: you must edit it to select one of the slim designs suitable for the sidebar.

    Would a sticky post work for you?

    ahoy! ships passing in the night
    or merely an echo…

    Ships! 1:06-1:06 can’t be called an echo!

    (And was that from a poem? Sounds familiar, but I can’t recall.)

    Awesome that works…I’m going to play around to with it to make it a bit more aesthetically pleasing. Thanks so much for your help, if you notice any other issues let me know.

    @jstamp02: You’re welcome. Some possibilities: you can change the color of the text, or set a different background color to it, or enclose it in a border. If you need help with any of these, let us know.

    Yeah, I think outlining it in a border is a good would I do that? Also, when I change the color of the links to blue, it shows up as gray on my blog, any thoughts? Lastly, it looks goofy because at the bottom of the post there is a post category and a comments box. Anyway to get rid of these things. Here’s a link to see what the sticky post looks like now.

    1. In the html post editor:
    <div style="border:1px solid black;padding:10px;">YOUR_TEXT_HERE</div>

    2. When you highlight a link to change it’s color via the color button of the editor, you don’t get the command where it should be in the code. Here’s how you can do it:

    3. No.

    a poem? It does sound familiar, but that just came into my mind.
    might be just a cliché

    Do I have to subscribe to wordpress in order to be able to modify my header? I want to get rid of the “just another wordpress weblog” here is my blog

    @hd1912: Settings > General.

    @tess: Two clichés actually, but both with a literary background…

    “Ships that pass in the night”: Longfellow, Tales of a Wayside Inn
    “I shall be merely an echo”: Saint Ignatius of Antioch, Epistle to Romans

    @jstamp02: Sorry, for the border I didn’t take into account the way the post date shows in the theme you’re using. You can modify this
    <div style="border:1px solid black;padding:10px;">
    into that:
    <div style="border:1px solid black;width:84%;padding:10px;">

    Settings->General->Tagline (type what you like)

    do you think barely remembered quotations are better or worse than clichés, or sterotypes?
    or ms-spellings?

    I think they’ll kick us out of here!

    (And it’s goodnight time for me…)
