Phishing Emails
-
Hi, Ive been receiving emails for the past days but they all contain a link only. Here are they..
lithium0824.wordpres.me/2008/11/the-weather-becomes-humid.html
emineth_combine.wordpres.me/10/03/everything-about-the-pollen.html
disiri_cute.wordpres.me/09/07/for-depression-there.html
disiri_cute.wordpres.me/09/07/for-depression-there.html
The hacker is trying to imitate the url of wordpress (disiri_cute.wordpres.me) but they spelled it wrong. I hope the support can do something about this. My personal email might be at risk. These emails started to pour in when I opened my email in another country. I hope you can do something about this. They are also sending email to a yahoogroup I am a moderator of. They might do something with my email and yahoogroup. Please please. Please email me at [email redacted by slik]. I have another personal email which this hacker is trying to hack. I am not active in my wordpress yet. I just thought I need to report this asap.
Thanks,
Olivia del Rosario

Olivia, I’ve tagged this for staff attention since they are out until the 19th, but they are monitoring the forums. Hopefully they will respond quickly.
-
Moderators, could you please remove Olivia’s email address so that she doesn’t get even more spams?
Thanks.

I removed your email so spam bots don;t harvest your email I also broke the links to discourage spam links in the public WP.com forums..

Don’t click any of the links. I always cut&paste the links and open them in another browser going in through a proxy. I’ve never received those emails though. But many emails I just delete without clicking the links they want me to open.
Your email account is only at risk if you use obvious easy passwords like a pet’s name. Set harder passwords and never have the same passwords for your blog/email/Yahoo group. Also never have another administrator for your blog because they can end up deleting everything.
If that’s your real name too, it should be deleted as well.

Hello,
Because those emails are being sent by a third party, there is unfortunately nothing we can do to prevent them from coming to you.
Please remember that WordPress.com staff will never ask you for your password.
