Photo width changes

  1. Hi,
Why is it when I upload photos in a certain size eg.medium, the boarder around the image will suddenly change to a much larger width, not only when I check things in preview, but also when still editing? The only way I've been able to fix this is to delete the image and start over again, and hope it doesn't do the same thing, which it sometimes does. This is happening in my 'Origami Fish and Flower' post which I am still editing. They've all gone wide on me! Would really appreciate some advice.

The blog I need help with is

  2. Do you mean the border when you add a caption, such as with this image?

  3. Yes, that's what I mean.

  4. That's the way captioned images show up in almost all themes. If you don't like it, don't write anything in the caption box, and write your captions as plain text in the post editor.

  5. If you look at my 'Origami 101' post, I have instructions for folding a yacht. That's how I want my photos to look. But sometimes, out of the blue in edit and/or preview, about an inch of border is added to the sides. That happened to my photos for the yacht, and I had to delete them, upload them again, and was eventually able to post without it happening again.

  6. I can't imagine how that can happen; if and when it happens again, publish it and link to it so we can see.

  7. Thank you for your help.

  8. I have just posted 'Something Fishy' where you will see the problem I'm talking about. All the photos had small borders when uploaded, with longer text automatically going to two lines and not surpassing the photo width. Then photos 1-14 developed wide borders and text surpassing the photo width on a single line, whereas photos 15-24 maintained the original size when uploaded. Any ideas?

    Thank you.

  9. I checked the source code of your post: Images 1-14 don't have the code normally produced by WP captioned images, plus you've got lots of other junk code too. (Among other things, notice the huge gap between last image and "Possibly related posts"?) Where and how have you been pasting from?

  10. These are images I took and I'm uploading them from my iphoto. If I reduce their size it's done in Preview.

  11. I was referring to the post in general, not the images. Do you prepare your posts in Word or some other application?

  12. I sometimes use word, but usually write my posts directly in edit. That's where I did the 'Something Fishy' post.

  13. The code for each one of the images with the overlarge frame is the code for definition lists (lists of items with descriptions). That's what produces the extra space - as well as the italics. So we're back to start: I can see what the problem is, but I fail to see how it can possibly crop up if you haven't used an outside application, since the post editor has no button for definition lists. But it may be an unusual bug I'm unaware of (and unable to replicate in my tests blog). Time to ask staff, I'm afraid:

Sorry I can't help more. When you get an answer, please let us know.

  14. Thanks for trying.
