So, I write a movie blog, and as such I post pictures of the movie, posters, etc. I am wondering, since I find all of these pictures on google or at least a majority of them, can I get into trouble for this?
Yes, you can but you probably won’t. If you search the forum for Copyright, you’ll find it’s a contentious issue. Remember that Google isn’t so much a site as a service; it points you to other places on the web. It’s those sites you need permission from. If they ultimately turn out not to be the copyright holder, at least you tried.
Generally it’s safe to use YouTube videos, since as a condition of uploading a video the person must certify that he’s the copyright holder. Which is not to say that he is, just that the responsibility for violation lies with him, not with those who innocently post the videos to their blogs.
