Pingbacks, Copyright Theft?
Have been reading the previous entries re above but am still confused. I have comment moderation on and got my first pingback today to this WordPress blog –
…where my recently added post has just appeared on their site. But it is linked back to my blog…
Can you tell me what’s going on here? Is it any cause for concern?
The blog I need help with is junosplace.wordpress.com.
It is a cause for concern. Check out http://stolen.wordpress.com for some suggestions about what to do with it. In the meantime, delete that pingback. It’s like burglars taking all your money and things and leaving you a Twinkie in hopes you’ll forgive them.
Using the Spam button to report them as spam to Akismet helps also.
This was very helpful, since I found the same thing happening to me twice on my recent post. Thanks!
I am confused, how did the person infringe the copyright on her blog? I thought quoting only a small part and linking back to original content creator was ok unless otherwise stated?
Nevermind, I did not look at the archives on the blog in question. Sploggers… I have already been attacked by two of them and my blog is new! Good luck.
If we do not delete, it will remain a working link, right? I want the pingbacks because I create them. I hope that by doing nothing, they will remain working. How do I go about stopping the emails that let me know about pingbacks??
It (Pingback) is happening to me on my personal diary blog! Tellyworth, WP already marksit as spam! http://health.demo-research.com/ and there are similar sites too all hosted on WordPress!
This blogspot blog stole my complete article: http://politic-blogpolitics.blogspot.com/ (the
‘why hate Muslims’ post on home page is mine!)
I have no time send DCMA notice; will do it after a month.
