Pingbacks from my own site?
-
I am so confused about Pingbacks. After I post, I usually receive one or two pingbacks in comment form that look like this:
porch love « The Charleston Porch
thecharlestonporch.wordpress.com/2011/05/18/porch…
72.233.61.67If its a real pingback, wouldn’t it come from another wordpress site that linked my post to their post? For instance, wouldn’t it say something like this? (and im making this up for example purposes)
porch love < The Charleston Porch
realestatecharleston.wordpress.comSomeone please help! I’m baffled!

A pingback is a type of comment that’s created when you link to another blog post where pingbacks are enabled. The best way to think about pingbacks is as remote comments. When you link to one of your older posts in a new one a pingback is created. You can delete it if you wish or you can approve and post it. If you wish you can stop “self-pings”. For an explanation of trackbacks see here. > Trackbacks are a way to notify legacy blog systems that you’ve linked to them. If you link other WordPress blogs they’ll be notified automatically using pingbacks, no other action necessary. > http://en.support.wordpress.com/trackbacks/
