Really want to add the placeling plug in to a blog… but it’s only for self-hosted wp blogs?? Should definitely make it available to the rest of us!

What does that plugin exactly do?

We don’t allow plugins on WordPress.com for security reasons. Plugins are a feature only available for self-hosted blogs provided through WordPress.org.

However, we do have some really cool widgets. Perhaps one of those might meet your needs?

Well we are looking for a world map that we can add pins/locations to, and when you click on the pins, a little bubble pops up and has text, a link to a post and a picture. We have been having a pretty hard time finding this, but finally found placeling, but can’t use it I guess. :-/

You can create your own map with Google Maps: http://support.google.com/maps/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=62843 . Here you can read how to easily embed these maps to your blog: http://en.support.wordpress.com/google-maps/

There are no restrictions if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities. We have hosting recommendations at the following link if you are interested.
