I am a magazine columnist, photographer, and very active blogger. Given the nature of my work, my new posts have almost always been donebeen done via “copy a post,” to save time, preserve format and background links. Therefore I am very disappointed to see “Copy a Post” go away. Yes, I realize there are workarounds but copying HTML is inelegant and finding the “Classic Editor” is near impossible. ***Please bring back “Copy a Post!”*** Thank you for considering my request!!

The blog I need help with is gregbrownflyingcarpet.com.

I tagged this thread for Staff to take notice of your Copy a Post feature issue and feedback. Please subscribe to it so you are notified when they respond. To subscribe look in the sidebar of this thread, find the subscribe to topics link and click it.

finding the “Classic Editor” is near impossible.

The Classic Editor will continue to exist in wp-admin. We know some users prefer to use this editor, so we want you to have access to it, instead of phasing it out with the new version of the Dashboard. However, a link to the Classic Editor will not return to the New Editor. From: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/when-editing-an-old-post-how-do-i-switch-to-the-classic-editor?replies=5#post-2316097

Dashboard > Posts > Add New

Bottom line: Staff removed the link in the new editor to the classic editor but there are two workarounds that can be used found here:

Thanks for the into and the helpful tags on the post.

The feature will remain available in WP-admin but there are many more widely used features that will take priority in the new editor so I have no timeline on when or if it will be incorporated into the new interface.

Please let me know if ‘Copy a Post’ comes back! I use it to ensure my sign-off block is the same every time and it’s frustrating to have to copy/paste it from another post every time! I think it’s rediculous.

+1 for Copy Post, I find it useful also because it avoids me to manually reselect tags for my articles.

@samannelizabeth and @guaiava- You can continue to use the “Copy A Post” feature directly in the Classic Editor in your site Dashboard to create your posts.

    https://YOURWPCOMSITENAME.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post-new.php?cap#cap

(Where, obviously, you need to use your own site URL in place of YOURWPCOMSITENAME)

In fact the Classic Editor is the only place you can use that feature since “Copy A Post” was never a feature of the New Dash Post Editor and according to the above reply from Staff (@lizthefair) it may never be incorporated into the New Dash Post Editor.

The only thing that Staff have changed is that they removed the link from the New Dash “Boop Boop Beep” Post Editor that brought you directly to the Classic Post Editor and have informed users in numerous threads in these forum that the link will not return.

Staff have now confirmed that “Copy a Post” will not be incorporated into the New Editor.

Note to Staff: why is the information concerning the developments/updates to the New Editor buried in that closed thread rather than being posted as a sticky as has been done in the past?

While we are tracking a couple of editor bugs at the moment, we reserve the sticky posts for times when we are making several significant updates all at the same time.

Please please please bring back “copy a post”. I used this on a daily basis.

    @rosetheatregallery
That is not going to happen in the new Beep Beep Boop editor. See here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/please-reinstate-the-option-of-choice-to-use-the-old-publishing-format/page/32?replies=942#post-2338964

So don’t use it. Use the classic editor instead. You cannot deactivate the new Beep Beep Boop editor but you do not have to use it. For locating the ways and means of accessing the legacy or classic pages for creating posts, editing posts, and viewing stats see here > Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2015/04/05/navigating-the-classic-wordpress-com-interface/

Thank you for the information timetheif. Will use that route until it no longer works. Hopefully the WP staff will eventually reconsider their decision and bring the copy a post back before the old dashboards quit working.

You are welcome. Also note that there has been no indication that the classic editor will be removed.
