Please can I revert back to

  1. I had a blog domain name that I changed to a new name, and I did not check the box that said to delete the old one. However, it seems to have got deleted and now it says the site has been deleted by the authors. I want that site back. How do I revert to it. I own both the new domain name and the old one.

The blog I need help with is

  2. is no longer available.
The authors have deleted this site.

You cannot recover or register any deleted blog URL. Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.
    You can register another blog

Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying address is when you are domain mapping.

  3. I did not agree to delete my original blog url. I did not check the box agreeing to delete. I simply agreed only to change my username and have a matching blog url. I wish it had been made clearer as to what was going to happen or at least if a grace period (even if just a few hours was given) to change your mind once you realized this is not what you intended. I am going to accept this is the way it is, as I have no choice. I just wish that there was a way to fix the error messages that now show up when someone clicks on my pins that were pinned from the old blog name. Are you saying that if I do a domain mapping upgrade, this particular problem might be resolved? If so, which one should I map - the new blog address or the old one - sorry, I don' understand this completely. Thank you for responding and for trying to help me. I appreciate it.

  4. When you are domain mapping to a domain URL form a free hosted blog it does not matter what the underlying blog URL is.

  5. I did not agree to delete my original blog url. I did not check the box agreeing to delete.

I'll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.

  6. I believe I am subscribed to the thread since I initiated this. I will definitely wait for someone to get back to me. As far as domain mapping - I'm still unclear. If I mapped - I don't think this is going to help as anything that came after the address, for instance one of my posts or even a posted picture has now disappeared off my old blog url and was not hosted elsewhere- just on WordPress. The posts and pictures are now on my current blog, but these links have not been publicized with in front so can't be traced back to my current blog, however, they were linked to the old one which is now apparently deleted. This all sounds rather confusing and it's hard to describe - I will await follow-up. Thanks for your help.

  7. Please be patient while waiting for Staff. They will answer all threads tagged for their attention previous to this one first.

  8. Thank you. I will wait for someone to respond.

  9. Just so that I am clear, what were your old and new urls?

  10. I a so sorry, but I did not know that you had responded until now. I did not get an email notification. My old blog url was and my new url is I have become resigned to the situation, but I've noticed my stats on the new url are way off from what they used to be and I understand that a message must be going out to all those trying to go to the old url that it's been deleted. I wish I hadn't changed my blog url. I should have just created a second blog url and retained the first one. Please help

  11. What support document instructions were you following when you changed your name? Or, where exactly in did you click/go to do it?

  12. I just searched on Google, which sent me to relevant WordPress sites for changing my name and I believe the one that I ended up referring to is: . However, I'm not hundred percent sure as it was about a month ago and I should have written it down. I do remember that there was an option next to some boxes that could be checked and the question was basically "do you wish to delete the older blog url?," but I did not check the box and I thought I was safe. However, I was not. It seems that my old url did get deleted and any links previously that used the old url are now invalid. I may not have used the instructions I mentioned previously although they seem familiar to me (perhaps I did so much research after my blunder). I also remember that I just intended to change my username and then I was presented with the option if I wanted a matching blog url. If I hadn't been presented with that option, I don't think this would have happened. Can anything be done to undo it? If not, it's okay as I have begun to try and publicize my posts with links that include just luchanik and not luchaniktravel. However, what happened was very annoying. There should be a way to go back and revert back if you do it within an hour or so of your mistake. There should be a way to contact someone at WordPress by phone, but I had looked all over and could not contact anyone that way when this happened. My only option was the forums.

  13. The short answer is that there isn't anything that can be done to retrieve those deleted posts. When something is deleted, it is permanent.

  14. I still believe that I did not agree to delete anything. However, I accept what you say. Thank you for your help.

  15. I am sorry that I could not be of more assistance.

  16. It's no problem. It was a good lesson for me that not everything has an undo button, or that you can go back if you make a mistake. Thanks for your help.
