Please help retrieving a blog I wrote but did not publish just now.

  1. I just typed a blog article titled Fathered by God and Others and used the new quick post recommendation. After I finished writing it, I wanted to add a video to the blog article. Once I clicked on the video button I have not been able to go back and retrieve my article I just spent two hours writing. Any help would be appreciated.

  2. Your blog is private and I cannot help you based on what I can see because I cannot "see" it. So here's the deal. I never ever use "quick post" because it creates Asides and Asides are post formats. They don't have Titles and can't have Categories assigned to them.

Aside – These are brief snippets of text that aren’t quite whole blog posts. Useful for quick thoughts and anecdotes

You ought to be able to go here > Dashboard > All Posts > Posts and locate the post. If it's not there then look in your Drafts. Edit the post and add your video to it and even change the post format to a Standard post format.

Standard – Your normal, average, everyday blog post. This is the default styling for your theme.

  3. If you aren't successful locating the Aside post then you may be able to recover an earlier Post Revision. Go to Posts > All Posts, hover over the title of the post, click Edit and check the Post Revisions module for previous saved versions of the post. If you're not seeing the Revisions module while on the editor screen, click Screen Options (top right corner of your Admin page) to activate it. Then select the post and page modules to include them. Then you ought to be able to go here > Dashboard > All Posts > Posts and locate the post and recover it from post revisions.

  4. Dear Timethief,
Thank you for trying to help me. I am going to try to retrieve the content now.

  5. My fingers are crossed for you.

  6. Dear Timethief,
What you suggested worked. I appreciate your help very much. I feel like I should do something nice for you.
I learned a valuable lesson. I will write my blogs in either word or pages then copy and paste them into the blog so I will not have to experience this level of fear again.
    Thank You,

  7. That's good news.

Word is not web compliant. Please use Windows Live Writer instead and the bonus will be a backup of every post and page you create on your own blog.

Never get into copying and pasting text from elsewhere without using either icon 5 or icon 6 in Row 2 of the visual editor, please see here

To prevent any copying an pasting issues > go to Settings > Writing and select “ ___ WordPress should correct invalidly nested XHTML automatically” and then scroll down and click “Save Changes.”

I'm glad I was able to help you. If you want to you can click my username and discover my blogging tips blog. :) Will you be kind enough to enter the top of this thread and mark it "resolved"?

  8. edit: "you create on your own blog" ought to have been "on your own computer".
