I am very new to all of this.

I am trying to do a 20 article website, with a menu and sub-menus, but have absolutely no idea where to start.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

What are you talking about? You don’t download software.

Jesus. I know it’s an open forum, but you’re supposed to know what you’re talking about at least a little.

maxiethemaniac, first thing you should do is read the sticky thread at the top of the forum on the differences between WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG. Depending on the nature of the site you’re building, you may want to be at the other forum.

Is this a web site building assignment or a writing class assignment?

Are you supposed to build the site in html or are you specifically required to use “WordPress??”

I am just trying to build a small, niche website.

Thank you to all for your input.

@maxie, if all you want to do is put up a few articles and such, it really isn’t that hard. You have an account here already, and if you don’t yet have a blog here, you can sign up for one. WordPress.COM takes care of all the nasty backend work so all you have to do is concentrate on your articles. If you want your own domain name, there is the domain and domain mapping upgrade here, and your blog from here can have your own custom domain address. I would suggest taking a look at the following two support documents here as a start. Since a blog here is free, you can always give it a try and then if it turns out to be too much, you can always abandon it, but truthfully, this is a powerful yet very easy system to learn and get up to speed on.

Forget what johngcek said. That sounds like the entire wrong way for you to go for what you want to do.

And there are a good number of very good volunteers here in these forums that can help you get started.

I deleted your reply since it has no relevance plus it will just confuse new members and start them out in the wrong direction…
