    I am a relatively new user. What is the deal with plugins? How do I download them from the internet? I am currently on https://wordpress.org/plugins/rescue-shortcodes/ trying to download rescue shortcode plugin. Do I go through input worpress tab?

    The blog I need help with is nausworkversion1.wordpress.com.

  2. Hi there, unfortunately, you can't use third party plugins on WordPress.com

    Mostly WordPress.org plugins are for Self-hosted WordPress sites.

  3. Quick update on third-party plugins: We've recently opened the opportunity to install plugins for Business Plan users. Keep in mind that most features are covered already by the plugin included in your WordPress.com account, so it is possible that you do not need any additional plugins.

  6. @Valedeoro what plugins does that allow you to install? Would it allow you to use the Woocommerce plugin?

    No. There is no ecommerce capability on wordpress.COM sites.

    You are confusing wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting with your wordpress.COM hosted blog. They are not the same. You cannot run woocommerce on any site that's hosted by wordpress.COM. You can only run it on a wordpress.ORG install on paid hosting. It is only for is for individual WordPress.org installations.

    This is wordpress.COM support. We provide support only for wordpress.COM hosted sites and our support docs do not apply to
    (1) local installs of wordpress.ORG software on your own server or
    (2) wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting, and we do not provide support for them at wordpress.COM.
    (3) sites linked to wordpress.COM accounts with the Jetpack plugin so they display on the My Sites wordpress.com account page.

    WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.   8. I am aware that only .org had plugins...

    BUT A member of staff posted above you saying that you've added plugin support for allowing people to install plugins on WordPress.com if you purchase a Business Plan...

    Also the link you gave to plugins says:

    "You can also install other plugins from the official WordPress repository through the plugin tab in your account. Some plugins might not be ready for WordPress.com yet, as this is something the plugin author needs to implement. If a specific plugin does not work for you, let us know. We will get in touch with the author or help you finding a suitable alternative."

    So I was curious if this does include the ecommerce plugins which are in the WordPress repository or not... And if it doesn't yet if there are plans to do so considering Woocommerce is now owned by AUTOMATTIC unless I am mistaken?

    I was actually about to move off my .com hosted Blog onto the same installation my other Blogs and shop are running on when I noticed that the business plan now oddly says "install plugins" which it didn't do before... and that could sway me to NOT move of but instead slowly move everything into my .com version instead...

  9. It is now possible to add Woocommerce if you've upgraded to the Business Plan.

    With the Business Plan customers get access to Automated Transfer, which lets you install WooCommerce. If for some reason the option doesn’t show up, we have Happiness Engineers who are available and more than capable of helping get it sorted out.

    Please see to it that this is clearly stated in support docs and on the pricing page. That way we Volunteers will be able to provide correct answers when asked about ecommerce.

  12. @chanthaboune thanks for the clarification and I note that this https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ has been updated to include WordPress.com Business Plan.

    Can you explain what "automated transfer" means? Thanks.

  13. Hi everyone,

    As stated above, the WordPress.com Business Plan now allows you to install most plugins and third party themes. This hasn't been announced yet as we're still doing some final testing, but any user with Business will now see that option. The support documentation is in the process of being updated.

    Business users can get more help with this via live chat.

    @justjennifer, "automated transfer" is an internal term that shouldn't have been used in this context. You can ignore that :)
